Spider diagram essay planning

Spidergram - a drawing that shows a summary of facts or ideas, with the main subject in a central circle and the most important facts on lines drawn out from it. Here is a sample spidergram (or spider diagram):

You can either draw the spider diagram by hand or create a digital version with a diagramming tool. Both have their pros and cons. Hand drawn is convenient when you’re taking notes away from a computer, but the finished product will have a homemade feel to it and you won’t be able to easily edit or share your handiwork later on.

The idea being that you would be able to discern the structure of the essay through the spider diagram as well as notice key words that are relevant for that topic and/or that you find particularly helpful in triggering your memory about the key points that you need to raise in answering that question.

In case you want to create a Spider Diagram for the hierarchy of an organization, you just need to identify its significant departments like Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Finance, and more. Once you have identified the major topics you want to cover in your Spider Diagram, you can just expand accordingly.
